Actually, I would gladly just take the glass opening without raising it, instead of the whole hatch...LOL...If vans can have side doors and rear hatches open and close, surely the Sorento can be made to do the same thing...

I just need someone to give me that incentive to do it...currently I have not worked on my Sorento yet, so i can't wait to...cmon guys and girls gimme a push...something easy...money is not an issue (right now, but may be later)...

Default 2005 EX with 30K miles would like help, please.

Kia Princess,

Per your post on 07-06-2008, 01:19 PM you didn’t tell us if the problem with the locks working then not working was on a veh with a factory alarm or aftermarket. If it’s got an alarm system in it, it may just have to be reprogrammed or reset. Even when I have my KARR sys. in valet mode it will still unlock/lock doors with ignition.

The only incentive I can see for you is "How badly do you want not to get out and open the window?" I say good luck with the research, fabing up the parts, purchasing said items, and last but not least actually doing the work. If money is not an issue then how bout tossing some this way. LOL. Good luck on the project.

nstoolman1:

Thanks for the reply! Actually my wife's Liberty is somewhat nice. When you have your hands full of "stuff" and you have the remote in your hands and all you have to do is hit the remote twice and the back glass opens fully and then it is easy to put the "stuff" in the back. I was hoping someone had an easy fix for the glass or the rear hatch. The vans I have seen are "neat" when they open and can close on their own (if you will). It is probably not worth the effort or money.
Speaking of money, I was only saying it wasn't a problem for my Sorento, now to give it away, would I have to claim you on my taxes????....LOL

I can appreciate the convenience the "push to open" would be considering the size and weight of the back hatch on the sorento. I don't think the IRS cares who you give it to after "you" have paid the taxes on it. I on the other hand might have to be a bit creative on where it came from. I could always claim the dog as a dependent. She practically runs the house now as it is. Like I said earlier good luck on the project.

nstoolman1,

my truck came with a factory alarm - it's the key fob that kia gives with the truck. it would be very nice if it only had to be reprogrammed or reset - but they keep saying it doesn't do it to begin with!! i am hoping that since the dealership that i normally went to closed and moved to the bigger dealership that maybe i can speak with some new people that know what i am talking about.

Default Kia Princess

It has been almost a month, anything yet, Princess?

Also no one to help on my moon roof problem? I know the moon roof doesn't leak, so it must be shutting properly (even though it doesn't look like it is). To me, it doesn't seem like a roof rail problem, either, due to the fact when I open the roof, the noise isn't as loud (per say). I did move the roof rails towards the opposite ends (with no luck) and if all else fails, I will take them off.

Please help...I hate having the cover closed all the time on the moon roof...
