There should be a button or switch on the driverside door about even with your knee. My key fob has a lock/unlock, panic, and a aux button. Aux opens my hatch. HTH

Thanks for the reply...actually I do have that switch and it "unlocks" the hatch. I was curious if there was a way to have the hatch "open" up. What I mean is open all the way up without having to raise it. Does that make sense? On the wife's Liberty the hatch opens all the way up with a button on the remote (you push it twice and the hatch opens all the way up without raising it).

Thanks,

dave

YUP retro fit any electric motor type rear hatch arm assy form a Dodge or Honda minivan. You might also wish to keep your terms consistant during the whole back and forth posting experience. You asked for and refered to twice(once using you liberty as reference) the Rear Glass upper part to be self lifting. Which was consistant with button on hand remotes and door arm rest panel remote button as well info you got back. And then later go on to clear up and ask for the Rear Hatch to be self lifting. Which we all know can not even be released by any button/handle other then the one above the rear plate. These are two seperate and non related items/areas in the rear of vech. Thou the small openable glass does reside in the whole big hatch unit. This would make more accurate info replies form those there possible.

Thanks for correcting me. You, in fact, are correct, I am not looking for the whole hatch to "open" up, just the glass part like my wife's Liberty. I am new to this forum type of discussion, so please try and bear with me.

Thanks for understanding.

So is there anything that will raise open just the glass part of the back hatch after you hit the remote to unlock it?

Have you tried pressing the door lock button on the door panel? Do it often enough and it will become 'automatic'

The Sorento does not have the auto-lock feature available aka rolling locks

THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU!!!!!
i have asked this question all over the net at any kia forum i could find and NO ONE ever knew what anything about this! it was as if i had no idea what i was talking about and had lost my mind because kia's just did not do this! i have a 2005 EX and MINE DID for a couple of months - i would get in my truck and put the key in the ignition and the doors would AUTOMATICALLY LOCK! when i got to where i was going and turned the ignition off the doors would automatically unlock! i loooooooved that. then all of a sudden it would not do it anymore! i have no clue why it stopped or how to get it to resume. i have searched and searched trying to find the answer on how to make it work again but can't - not even the kia tech knew it was possible!

I stand corrected. My 03 when the KARR alarm is unplugged does not lock doors when the key is turned to "ON' position. The doors do not un-lock when the key is turned to "OFF" position. The driver door "all lock" button does do its job whether the alarm is hooked up or not. Hope this clears up some of the confusion.

Kia Princess:

I, too, also have a 2005 EX and would like this feature. I was looking for "auto locks" (if you will) and also something for the rear hatch. Seems like neither of two comes with the Kia. Still love my vehicle, just need to make modifications. And just like gee6 said if I do it on the door panel enough, it will become automatic.
Most likely I will look into an alarm system for the locks and a motor for the rear hatch. If these two are very costly then it will have to be something else that gets modified (I would really like to put in a video monitor where the radio goes).
