well i finally got mine today - how long will this process take??? on a good day.
it said that if i was going to wait until my next scheduled maintenance that it would "extend" the time - duh! - for this to be done. i was going to wait until i had to get my oil changed next month UNTIL they closed the dealership that was 20 minutes from me so i may just do as the letter suggested and make and appointment!

btw - i have 31,974 miles on my truck. it's a 2005

I had the same problem with my 05 Sorento right at the 80k mile mark too. But they just flushed the engine and the noise went away. It was part of the warranty, so I didn't get charged. I just got the ICV recall done on my sorento too, and they actually left it worse than before. I didn't have the check engine light go off or loss of power until after they "repaired" the recall. Has anybody had more problems after the recall repair?

Got my recall letter. Called the dealership and was told they were getting 5 replacement parts per month and had 460 vehicles to repair. (Do the Math.) Called me 6 weeks later and said someone missed his appointment and I could have his part. Had it replaced and less than 20 miles the check engine light came on. Had a local garage to check it and it caoded vacumn leak. Go figure.

Mine is being done Wed Aug 13th at 9am. I am leaving the vech. I called at 9am today to sched it. They are taking care of the GAS sender as well at that time. I was told before i asked about gas sender it would be just for the INTAKE (2) hours. Give or take. That is why I am leaving it till done. And getting errands done in the meantime.

UPDATE: 8/13/2008
Got the vech back home from dealer less then an hour ago. Put 100 miles on it on way home on a whim took a road trip the long way home. Not one sound or hiccup or CEL. Had to relearn idle for ten mins but other then that flawless. They also did the fuel gauge sender issue upgrade. And a fuel filter. vech now has 46,235 on it.

My 2004 Sorento started clicking and I took it in on 8/10/2008. The service department told me that it was due to the ICV problem and that it will take 3 weeks to repair.

Sorry to hear that. Many of us have not had that problem with the dealer not wishing to do the work. Unless you short cut (left out some stuff) the above statement and the eng is toast? And you meant to say it will take three weeks to order and get and do a new eng? Just to do the ICV recall takes not more then three hours. And that is if you milk the job. I got my letter Aug 11th in mail. Called and got a appointment for Aug 13th. Took in at 9am and got it back at 3pm. And they did the gas sender free and fuel filter (paid) too.

OK i'm a little lost here. I haven't to this site in a while do to an illnes but now after loggin in I think I missed out on some things. What is an ICV and what is the recall and what years soes it affect. Mine is an 03 and it has been running great for all this years. It did have the crank shaft bolt recall done. And some clip fell off the throttle but luckily it had not fallen in the engine or it would have done some damage. Any information would be helpful.

Apparently the ICV broke and parts were ingested by the engine causing damage. the dealership is not replacing the engine but rather trying to repair the engine. I am now in week #4 without my Sorento and have already begun my search for a Toyota, Nissan or Honda.
