Don't know about any "clip" they are mentioning but I had a butterfly screw that holds the blade on the shaft come loose. When it does best case scenario is the screw will travel through an out of the engine. No harm no foul for now. Worst case valves get bent or piston damage. When it happens the engine sounds like a diesel on steroids. I was fortunate to get it repaired under warranty. There are six blades with two screws per blade.

Clip is what Kia people are calling the butterfly and yes the screws are falling into the engine. Quality Kia Engineering....NOT!!!!
My 05 Sorento EX is listed with Kia for the ICV recall, but I never got a recall on the crankshaft bolt - I just had the SECOND FAILURE two days ago at 42k miles. This time the dealer tells me they can't replace the short block like last time, but I have to wait 5 days to have a machine shop machine out the 2nd bad bolt.
Just because your Sorento's VIN is not on the recall list doesn't mean you don't have to worry about a failure.
Last time I brought my 2003 Sorento EX to the dealer they caused a lot of damage trying to replace the front heated seat. I'm wondering if I can trust a different dealership with the ICV replacement? Now we are talking engine and not just cosmetics. Is it worth the risk? What do folks think?
actually it is not a clips at all thats what they call it. it is actually this little white bushing there the lower throttle plate acuator arm is attached to the rod that all the thorttle plates are on. that klittle bushing wears out and lets a vaccum leak occur. it happens on most kia v-6s the sedona, sorento, optima, and amanti. the screw falling out is a totaly different thing. its the same part but completely different problem. and you cant just blame kia for that alot of companies have been having problems with that design.
My wifes 2004 Sorento has been right reliable up to this point. The truck had sat for two days, when she went to start it up today it had what sounds like a valve tick. She shut it off and came and got me. I started it back up and drove it about a block and back, it's still ticking. The oil looks fine (caramel color and on the level), it seems the power is fine. Is this anything that sounds like the recall issue? The Sorento has just over 80K on it.
