Default Needing help

I have a 2007 Kia Sorento that I am going to attempt to change the oil and oil filter. I have done many oil changes in my life, but I have never seen a filter like the one I picked up and I can't seem to find where it goes. Any help would be appreciated.

Thumbs up Under the engine two pan covers.

You should have two pan covers under the engine they both need to be removed. You should now see the drain plug and the filter.

Yep, highly recommended to take off at least the plastic pan cover under the engine (5 bolts). Mine is an '03 -- I don't need to take off the front steel pan cover, just the plastic one.

My 06' is the same way. I only needed to remove the plastic pan. One trick needed on an 06' is when you pull the filter, you will get oil all over the frame of the truck because of the filter's location. I use a sheet of aluminum foil and make a catch/gutter with it so it will run into my drain tub. Not sure if this problem exists on other years.

Actually I am pretty sure the oil filter on the 07 model is on top of the engine in the back. The 07 engine is different than previous years.

Hey, thanks for all the input. I got it changed this past Sunday. The oil filter is on the back of the engine at the top. All you do is take the engine cover off and unscrew the top off of the filter, replace two o-rings and the paper filter and you are ready to go. Also, you have to remove the plastic guard under the engine to get to the drain pan.
