Do you know if this is a problem with the 3.8l too?
Aref, my bolt broke while I was operating my vehicle. The dealership changed my timing belt at 96,000 km as part of the scheduled maintenance. I actually haven't seen my vehicle for a month, as it has been at the dealership since it broke.
The reason I asked you about changing the belts is because I believe nearly all bolt breakages happen after the belts are TIGHTENED TO THE MAX which is not compatible with design of the bolt or pulley.
Pistnbroke had earlier written about this and suggested loosening the belts till they squeal and then tightening them up slightly.
My car was OK when I took in for a scheduled 60,000km maintenance which also involved the changing of the timing belt. When changing the timing belt, they must remove all the other belts and the mistake happens when they put the belts back on. Each belt is pulling the pulley so hard towards it that eventually it will break-off.

gray bolts break just as easy as the gold ones (Kia lies !)
