No breakage on my gold bolt after 99,000km's
Just changed the timing belt and the KIA Mech sold me the Grey Bolt for $10.00AUS but I did notice when pulling it down all 3 drive belts were nicely tensioned not over tight and the bolt came out relatively easy.

Multiple breakage
This time the dealer wil machine out the bolt, but I will have to wait a week for a machinist to be available. The Service Management at my dealer has been great, but I confirmed today with Kia Consumer Affairs my Sorento was never on the crankshaft bolt recall. Last bolt incident they put in a short block, at 12,100 miles I had a #3 cylinder misfire and got a new long block - I haven't checked all my paperwork (all repairs even oil changes I've done at the dealer) but I think they have turned or machined the front rotars almost everytime I've been in there - now I find out that my Sorento is in line for the ICV recall too....
I'm really scared to drive it anymore.

Just got it out the shop yesterday. My VIN was not part of the crankshaft bolt recall, but it should have been. It took 2 weeks to fix including doing the ICV campaign. Dealership was very helpful. The KIA rep only wanted to replace the crankshaft, but because I did all of the required schedule maintance they replace the short block. This would have been a $6K fix I didn't do all of the required maintance.

Sorry I don't have the specific info. Her extended warranty won't cover it so I'm doing a little digging for her. This shows a problem with the crank bolt (a history of failure). By the way, nice forum.
in the us, they recalled the crank bolts last year. this year they recalled the lower intakes due to the screws coming out. BTW im kia tech.

Around the 50K mile mark we started to hear a squeky sound from the A/C unit usually in the mornings, so another KIA dealership said I needed to replace the belts, so we did. The noise didn't go away, the KIA dealership that performed the short block replacement, has try to tighten the belt to make the noise dissappear before the crankshaft bolt failed. We even heard it after the engine replacement.
What I have been reading is that the belt tightening maybe causing the crankshaft bolt to fail. Pretty scary.

Thanks,
I suspected that's what happened and i'm sure that's why it broke.

Additionally, my fuel gauge fluctuates randomly. Any thoughts on that?
