Try lowering your speed to between 55 and 65 (if safe to do so), you will see a big difference in mpg. My best gas mpg has always been reached around 55 mph.

Yes we all drive Sorento's. Not the most areo design in the world. Speed = wind resistence = lower MPG. But do not take this to the extreme. Any vech will take a certain amount of fuel to get going even if it is 35-40 Mph. Law of dimishing returns applies both ways.

I'm curious here. Many of you say you have a K&N filter. Are you talking about the filter element or the entire breather system?

If it's just the element, it's really not going to do much. The entire breather system is extremely inefficient. The pipe bringing air into the filter box is less than 1/2 the size of the pipe (tube) bringing air to the engine.

Autozone has a cone filter for $25.00 that works wonders. Take the top of the filter bos off as well as the air filter element. Put them away. Far away. Attach the cone filter and it sits quite nicely in the bottom of the box. THEN,

Unplug the battery. If you don't you increased milage will be minimal. Let it sit for about 1/2 hour. Reattach the battery cables, restart the car and let it reset the computer.

One other thing that has worked for me is 89 octane gas. It seems to more than pay for itself. Lastly, I have seen so many posts about better milage over 75 mph than below. I have noticed the same thing. It must be so.

I do get a consistant 22 mpg, mostly around town. Still have not taken it on any long trip because my Chrysler 300 gets 29/30 on the highway and I know the Kia won't. And no, I'm not crazy on the Chrysler. That's what the sticker says and it's true. V6, six speed automatic. 24 mpg around town 20 highway. Great milage and comfort but isn't worth a damn on the beach.

If I go to AutoZone... just ask them for a Cone filter, '03 Sorento, V6?

Anybody??? Are we talking a K&N Cone type? I have looked at AutoZone for a $25 Cone style filter that would sit in our '03 V6 airbox and hook up to the intake tube. Nothing seems to be right. Help anyone, I'd like to try this Cone Filter idea.

What you seek does not exist. If you build one using the OEM BOX as a base let us know and there are those that would buy it form you at a $$$. I myself use the OEM replacement K&N pan style filter with the lower half of the OEM Box swiss cheesed for more air flow. Less underhood heat transfer problems I find. You can use a CONE TYPE filter weather it be other or K&N. And it will have a high probibilty of under hood heat transfer trouble. But you must build your own RUBE GOLDBERG way for it to work with the MASS AIR SENSOR. There is NO TURN KEY or PLUG AND PLAY for our Sorentos.

35 mpg?!?!?!?!?! Damn, tell me what mods u've done. The only major dissapointment with my 2004 EX is the lousy gas mileage...maybe 22 on the road at best; expected much more out of my first non-American vehicle ever.
