Default Radio removal

Hi, i have a 2006 MY sorento, and desperately need to know how to get access to the radio connectors to install a hands free phone kit, but don't have a clue on how to get access to the screws to release the radio. Does anyone out there have the info. I could also do with some info on the JVC radio head unit wiring connector pin outs, as i may need to attach to a mute pin if it is fitted. Thanks in advance.....

Assuming the 2006 interior is the same as the 2004, the radio is accessible by removing the two side pieces of the front console. Check the shop manual (Global Service Way). These pieces pop out when pulled from the top and then the whole front panel comes off and you can remove the radio.

You have to pry off the panels on the side of the radio...they are not screwed in. Actually...here's a link with some pics that might help.

I am also trying to get the fascia apart. So I pull the pieces downward from the top, just underneath the vents? Ok but how do i get the pieces popped enough to pull them? I tried with a screwdriver (standard of course) and all i did was succeed in Scratching the climate control box!! argh!!

If you use a screwdriver, wrap the blade in insulating tape

...or get one of those hard, galvanized fire extinguisher holders or hooks (they're flat hooks, l-shaped with a small tongue on one end).
you could also make a bracket that looks like this:

You use the short end for prying and the longer one for pulling. Just make sure it is made of hard metal.

Start at the bottom. Open the drawers and use the protected screwdriver to gently lever out. Only needs to be a thin flat blade about 6" long total. Worked for me. Some people have done it just with fingers.

Hmm start at the bottom...ok I wonder if there is a way to get the drawers out of the way to do this? or are they just there and opened?
