OK, you confused me. Just realised you have facelift (?) model from another post. This thread started about a 2006. I'm guessing they are much the same - the drawers are only removable after the trim is removed, so they just have to be opened. Perhaps if you could post a pic of the console and the drawer area we might be able to figure it out if noone knows for certain.

Anyway, if you only want to get at the wiring, can you not just remove the radio from its enclosure? All my radio head units have been removable with the right tool (and sometimes the wrong tools ) usually supplied or available at any auto audio supplier. Removing the trim does make life easier when you can do it, but not necessary. (or are the NA spec radios bolted in.)

Sorry Gee6, I know the thread started on the 06 and yes I have the '07 but I am desperate for help. The radio head unit is indeed bolted in as far as i can see with the Diagrams from Kia. The diagrams say to remove the pieces do exactly what everyone is saying to do. I am just too afraid of FUCKING up the dash on a 3 week old car I have become a nervous nancy!!

PS this is a US Sorie......if that makes a difference

Just finished swapping in a used factory Delco 6-disc changer (thanks EBAY!)for my single disc changer.

Here's a link for install on an '08 Sorento.

http://www.kiatechinfo.com/viewer/de...asp?group=shop

I was also worried about scratching up the interior plastic in the process of removing the center facia lower panels (Item A).

I removed the lower panels by prying on the inside edge after putting electrical tape over both surfaces at the crack where two panels meet. I also used cloth over the end of a short wide standard blade screwdriver. Scratching was minimal. Be aware that there are three plastic interference fit clips that hold the lower panels in place. The clips are at about a 30 degree angle so you will have to pull up slightly on the lower panels when removing them. One of the clips is located in the center of the lower panel and the other two are about 1" from each end. I ended up prying the top clips loose first then moving down.

DO NOT try to remove the panels containing the air vents first as they have hidden screws and you will break or damage the panel. The panel with the air vents only come out after removing the lower panels and the center facia panel.

The only other thing to look out for is the green locking tabs on the two electrical connectors at the back of the radio. Use a small standard blade screwdriver to push them back before trying to disconnect the electrical connectors.

Any questions ask now before I forget!
