Default Complete Transmission Flush

This question is for the Service techs out there or for someone who has done it. I have a 03 Sorento with 75000 miles. Can I flush the tranny at home? I have 30 years auto experience so I know my way around cars but I have never done the trans thing. I've only dropped the pan and changed the filter. Can it be done using the trans cooler tubing? I am debating if I should take it to a trans shop and let them do it. Thanks for you time and answers in advance.

i would take it in where they have the machine. Just because even know you think you flushed out the tranny there is still alot in of fluid in the lines and the tourqe convertor.

i don't recomend "flushing" transmissions. it can dislodge solids that can cause big problems shortly after

when i was ford mechanic we were required to drain converters (when they were accessable w/drain plugs) as well as removing and replacing the filter

every once and a while we would have a govenor hang up after due to dislodging junk in the converter.

never had a problem if the converter was not drained

if the owners manual says to change the trans fluid that is just what i would do nothing else

i change our chevy astro trans (4L60E) fluid and filter every 30,000 miles and the last time i did it i drove it a week and and changed the just the fluid again just to get more of the old fluid out, (d-III) is cheep, but Kia red-1 is not ! so no double changes for our sorento, i changed it first at 15,000 miles

Thanks Beyond Help and Raven1210 I appreciate the quick response. I think I will continue only replacing the fluid that drains from the pan. I just hate paying $7.00 and change for a quart of tranny fluid. I remember when it cost less than a buck. The auto stores were just about giving the stuff away. Are we stuck using only KIA-red 1 or is there a substitute we can use?
