Unhappy Radio problems-2005 Sorento

Motor and outside noises on AM. Dealer claims radio is within specs. Had radio & antenna replaced; still noisy on all AM stations. At times, unable to hear station. This only occurs on AM; FM is OK. Any recommendations? Am I able to submit as a "lemon"?

Default Radio earth

AM signal is pretty poor and is affected by area, buildings and even climate conditions.
Its worth making sure though the radio set and the aerial body both have a good earth, this might help but never expect a high quality like a FM station.

Not so fast Suckerfish....we all KNOW AM sounds bad....but.....my AM sucks as well. I mean really bad.. Ridiculously bad.....Far worse than any car I have ever owned....Interference is terrible- and this coming from stations 30 miles away.

actually, when i turn my LIGHTS or ACCESSORIES on, it gets WORSE....

a bad ground??

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I was told previously it could be a bad ground. How can I check if the radio and antenna body is got a good ground? Thanks

Default Earth

Try runing a wire from the back of the radio body to a good earth point on the car body and do the same for the aerial body. Also worth checking the coax lead connection is good, think its located down by the drivers kick trim / fuse box and that it is not routed across any other elec cables.

Default 2005 Sorento AM radio noise

Thanks for your response. I assume since the battery negative is grounded to the chassis, I could try connecting wire between body of radio to battery negative; same for antenna body???
