Default transmission fluid change

i changed my trans fluid today for the first time, took all of a half hour
vehicle, 05 sorento, 5 speed auto, shiftronic, A5SR1 trans
the only fluid you can use is, kia Red-1, $7.02 a quart p/n, um040-ch020
it takes 4 1/2 quarts to fill hot, just pull trans drain plug and refill

Are you doing the differential at all in the near future? (or have done it recently?) Just curious...

i already changed the both diff fluids, the rear is sort of a pain in the butt since the rear end has to be eight inches higher than the front to get the proper amount in, as per Kia service instructions

I've just bought an 04 Sorento with AT, 28K miles. Did I read correctly that the tranny holds 12 quarts but you only need like 4 to "change" the tranny fluid???

Furthermore, is "Mobile DII" as called out inthe manual the same as Dexron 2 and is only Mobile allowed?

fill through the dip stick tube, mine is an 05 which has a different trans then 03 and 04's and uses different fluid, use the fliud specified in the manuel, the amount, 12 quarts includes the converter which you can't drain just change the trand fluid and then do it again a few days later
put in 4 quarts run untill hot and recheck, add to proper mark on dip stick

I'm kind of new to the forum with a 2005 @ 15k and was scoping out service info.
Has anyone tried synthetic diff oil or should I stick with the stock stuff?

either, or what ever you want to use, just make sure it meets or exceeds gl-5 spects and is the proper wt range (80w-90, 85w-90) and is for limited slip use in the rear (some say "for top off of limited slip diffs) read the bottle carefully

synth i think are 75w-90, i think you should be ok with any of the above

just document the change miles and date and recept and amount you put in the rear as per kia spects and raised the rear of the vehicle 8 inches to fill should any warrenty questions arise
