Default new battery dies after only a few hours sitting

This battery is only a few months old and dies after only a few hours of sitting after the car is turned off. I had the alternator checked and it was fine, the starter too. I'm forever having to get jumps, what could be the problem? Help!!!

If you're confident the battery is good, then you need to measure the battery after a trip during which the alternator should have fully charged it, then search for some load draining the power.
Pulling the fuses one by one and for each one checking if the load drawn changes - theres a few way to check for load draw - sometimes you can lift the one battery terminal and watch for a small spark when reconnecting it - or place a protected Amp meter between the disconnected battery terminal and its wire.

What Ron says is quite right, but if a fully charged battery is draining only after a 'few hours' then there is quite a load on the battery.

It wont just be a case of a single lamp or radio left turned on.

Personally, even though the battery is only a 'few months old' I would get it checked out on a proper 'discharge meter'.

Let us all know if/when you solve it.

If it sparks that's good or bad? does it matter if it's pos or neg?

Spark is a sign that there is current/power being drawn when there should be virtually zero, so it's bad.

It does not matter which terminal, but its always safer to work with the NEG.

It was a bad fuse mixed with a bad cell in the battery I bought in april, I'm glad it was under warranty. She is running fine now.
