Question Leak:clear liquid

I was recently on my way home from getting some fuel when all of a sudden, my 1999 Sephia jerked twice while changing gears, right after, I hear what sounded like some hoses blowing out. When I got home, I noticed a large ammount of clear liquid leaking from where the driver's side axle meets the rack and pinion. Mind you now, I just had two of the flared lines replaced about 2 weeks ago. I do know that there are two more lines that lead to the rack and pinion that were not replaced at the same time, could this be what blew out on me, or could this be an even larger problem than expected?

I also just had the driver's side axle replaced about a month ago... The person who owned the car before me did not take care of this car...

No, it is not fuel, at least I do not think it is, it doesn't have the smell of fuel for one, and it has a redish tint for two.

well with a redish tint, it could be tranny fluid. Considering thats the only fluid thats red.

Actually no, my power steering fluid is red also. I did not know this until I had taken it back to the shop after having the transmission replaced. I said I think I have a tranny leak, and they said no, it was power steering. Well that problem got fixed, but now it is back, I think they only replaced 2/4 of the flared lines that needed to be replaced.

Power steering fluid is not red, or lets say shouldn't be.. If it is drain it and replace it with dot3

Actually, I have been told by many people that some power steering is red on certain vehicles, but I will take your suggestion and flush it.

The KiaTech web site specifies ATF (most are red) for the power steering on the 1999 Sephia, but it's best you check the hand book because certain batches of vehicles destined for certain markets and area's may be different to what's seen on the KiaTech web site.

P/S fluid - ATF M-Ⅲ or DEXRON-ⅡE

Capacity US qt(liter) - 0.64(0.6)
