Default Clutch is not working 1998 Kia Sephia

I am able to start the car in neutral, but I cannot get it into gear. If the car is off I can shift it through the gears, however it will not start while in gear. The clutch pedal has no pressure when applied. I think it might be the slave cylinder but I am not sure. And if that is the problem I am not sure I that is something a regular guy can easily change.

So if you could help with any of that I would appreciate it.

thanks

First find out if the Clutch Master Cyl is the same design as the Sorento and uses the BRAKE MASTER as its source of fluid. See if that is full. Next follow the lines to the slave(most are external on side of bell housing) from what ever master you do find it to be. IF you find a wet line then you got a line leak and possibly AIR in the system and not totally a slave gone bad yet. If no leaks then slave is the next logical place to go see if you can bleed it and if it has gotten air in it and stopped working. This if you have ever bleed brakes before is easy. If you have never bleed brakes then it might take some work or be something you do not wish to attempt. If you are ok with all this and find that teh slave is bad then if you have ever replaced a brake caliper and or a wheel cyl and bleed them after you should be ok with a slave. Some slaves require that you bench bleed/prime them first before install. And then bleed the system after install.
