Default check engine light is flashing

i have a 97 sephia manual and yesterday it started sputtering and trying to die on me. also the check engine light is flashing. does anyone have any idea why this would be?

Welcome to the forum.

The only way anyone can get an idea of what's causing this problem, is to get the error codes read and post them here for advice, or look the codes up on the web site using the link in my sig.

take it to autozone and get a free error code check, although plug wires seem like the cheapest and first thing that come to mind.

Just guessing without the codes but, I would say it has happened to me and it was misfires caused by one of the coil packs going bad.
