Default have a tI think I may transmission problem with my '99 Kia Sephia?

The problem with my car is that when I reverse my Kia seems to lag and starts to make a harsh banging noise as I reverse. When I try to put it back in drive it takes it a while to shift into drive and then makes a loud bang into drive. I thought it was the bearings since they were cracked. I have since replaced them but the mechanic also said that I have a bad transmission and i need to replace it. Does anyone know what could be wrong and how I could fix it?

I had the same problem and it's definitely the transmission. I just got the car back from the shop today, all the gears were worn out (I had your problem and it started more than a year ago).

Have your tranny checked/repaired and you should have no problems.

IF you need a new transmission, go to your local KIA dealer, and it should be roughly $1400 for a remanufactured transmission. I had to replace mine.
