Metal clutch slave cylinder hose?
I have a 97 Kia Sephia.
I took my car into the shop in December because it wouldn't change gears, it's a stick shift.
On the receipt it says replaced the clutch slave cylinder & the clutch master cylinder.
I would assume that the clutch slave cylinder hose would have been checked/changed/replaced at that time but it wasn't and I very well could have paid for unneeded repairs because I have continued to have the same problem.
A little over a month later my car wouldn't shift again. I took it in & they adjusted the clutch which I knew was a waste of time because there was a leak.
Again, today, I took it in & they said the clutch slave cylinder hose was leaking which was probably the problem all along but I have no way to prove that now after paying for all of the above new parts/labor & brake fluid charges.
They said that they could not get a hose for several days and wanted to get it in & out sooner so they made what looks to be a smaller slave cylinder hose from flexible metal.
The previous hose was rubber and looked wider.
They rushed me out before I could say anything or get the part they took off & acted like they did me a
huge favor because they replaced it for free.
Now it shifts, but hard and the engine light is on.
Is this kind of repair appropriate, will a smaller metal hose cause problems, heat up or cause the engine light to go on?
Will it do any further damage to the car, clutch, etc?
They told me they can't get parts easily because "no one buys them."
They previously offered to buy the car above bluebook so I don't trust them.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
