Default 99 sephia popping out of reverse

anyone have any idea what would cause my 5spd to pop out of reverse. couldnt get it in reverse at first till i put new bushings in the shifter linkage. now goes in and starts to move then pops out. please help its giving me a headache.

went over to the car and took the console out and rubber boot of shifter. attempted to put in reverse same thing so experamented and it seems if i push down hard on the shifter and put it in reverse it will stay in so any closer to figuring out the problem? thank you agian for your assistance.

I would have someone check the bolt that holds the shifter to the shaft. Might be loose.

shifter bolt where the control rod and shifter connect are tight i just replaced the bushings.

that seems tight no slop in it that i can feel. the only thing that has some movement is the extention bar (stabalizer bar) that connects to the side of the tranny. that seems to move back and forth a bit.

BUt are they to tight? I tightened mine to tight when I installed a short shifter. So loosen it up a little. the front one that connects to the shifter shaft.

i was wondering if it might be to tight will have to check that. your the first one to come up with that. usually dont try ideas i have unless someone that knows more about these kia's then me says one of my thoughts also will check that tommorow. thanks agian
