Default Heater Fan Speed Problem

I've been asked by a friend to help him with a heater fan problem on his Kia Picanto as he's not very mechanically minded.

The heater heats and the fan sounds like its blowing on each of the individual speed settings but nothing comes out of the vents other than a mild puff of air. I've considered that there may be a blockage but don't see how as the grating over the intake at the bottom of the windshield appears to be quite a fine mesh and I'm doubtfull anything large could get in. The car is a 56 plate.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Adam.

Hi adamp1917,

If you are sure the fan is working okay & no blockage in the intake at the bottom of the windscreen, then there must be one of the ducts/pipes off behind the dashboard, allowing the air to escape there,if so with the fan on full you should hear the noise under the dashboard somewhere.

You are sure the fan is blowing strongly on all speeds?

Have you checked the pollen filter? This is located under the glove box. Mine did the same thing a few years ago, and the filter fixed the air-flow problem.

Regards
