Default KIA Picanto 2008 Oil type

Hi all,

I need to know please what should be the best oil to use for my 2008 KIA Picanto. I am currently using a 10/40 semi synthetic (API: SL) oil.

I am also replacing the filter each time I change the oil.

Best Regards,
Elie

What is the year round temperature max and min where you live. On the UK Castrol website they recommend Castrol Edge 5W30 for the Picanto which is fully synthentic that could maybe save you a little fuel each year if your climate permits you to use such a thin oil. The book that the Picanto comes with also has an oil chart in. 10W40 is fine. SL and SM are the newest oil standards but the picanto engine can even use the older standards according to the book.
Then there is the gearbox oil if it has a manual transmission which the book says fill for life (75W85 GL4). Not so sure about the fill for life part, I change mine every 2 year or 30 000km.

A Kia Picanto engine only uses average 3 liters oils. You need the semi synthetic oil for your KIA Picanto 2008 (fully synthetic is only for certain high performance sports cars).

I recommend Castrol Magnetec for your car.
