Default Speedo, Fuel gauge and odometer stopped working

During the current cold weather here in Scotland I had left my Picanto parked up for 6 days. When I went to start it again after clearing it off snow it started first time but the dash instruments have stopped working.

The fuel gauge and speedo dont move and the digital odometer does not come on. Also the engine coolant light comes on and stays on. I have checked the coolant level and it is fine.

Is it worth checking the fuses or should I just put in to the dealer to get repaired?

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Yes, Try checking the cluster fuse, witch is in the driver side knee bolster.
If you find it has blown there are spare fuses in the engine compartment box.i have not known fuses to blow due to cold though?

The problems are probably all related to the cold conditions over there at the moment, might be power supply related maybe low voltage from battery due to the cold. Probably worth at least reporting it to the dealer though.

Exclamation Same problem in Germany

Hi all,

I have the exact same problem here in Germany. Speedo, fuel gauge and tachometer won't work. I already checked all the fuses under the dashboard and in the engine compartment. They are all OK.
Any idea or suggestion on this issue is highly appreciated.

Greetings and a happy new year to all of you from Germany
Juergen

Default Speedo, Fuel gauge and odometer stopped working

I started my car last night and everything was back to normal. It was a little bit warmer so it must have been the cold weather that caused the initial problems. I will keep an eye on this and if it happens again I will put the car back to the main dealer as the car is only 3 months old.

Good the car is back to normal. I had an other idea maybe the contacts to the insrtuments behind the dash were affected [terminal fit and tightness altered] by the cold conditions and the contacts returned to normal with a bit more warmth.
