Question Fan belt problem?

Hello there,

When i turn my little Pica's engine on i hear a skreetching noise like it's coming from the fan belt. I am not sure but it doesn't last long. The longest i heard it was for about 30 seconds and then it stopped. What could it be?

Default Fan belt problem?

Sounds like you've nailed it. Check the belt for cracks and if ok then add just a touch of tension on it and it should be fine.

I can't really do that myself as i have not got much knowledge of cars. I just need to know if it is serious or dangerous because especially this week i have no time to take it in to be fixed.

yup its definitely the belt.. adjust it through the service center but not too tight or you'll end up messing another critical part of the engine.

Well it could turn serious. The belt will get glazed or very slick and eventually slip so much it will overheat, burn or melt then break. Depending on where you are at the time could mean the difference between a long walk or short one. Take the time to learn or get someone who will help you. It's time and money well spent. Good luck.
