On normal days like from home to school I would drive my pica around 80-90 Km/h or on worst days like traffic jam around 40-60 km/h. But on Sundays I could drive it around 118 km/h only because of our road conditions in the Island of Mindanao, Philippines where it is dangerous to drive a car passing 100 km/h. I would like to try driving it beyond 120km/h in a safer highway someday.
i got mine upto 140 kmh. i think i can push it more but the road is short. i feel the steering wheel starts to vibrate at 130. so when im driving fast i have a sensor when im doing 130. the wheel is vibrating. lol
The maximum speed on my 1.1LS is advertised as 96mph by Kia. Anyone know how they calculate this as it seems quite clear that the these cars can go quicker? Is it a 'safe' maximum or is it considered harmful to the engine if that speed is surpassed or what? Need to know before I attempt a landspeed record! Optimistic Flingo.
I think its not recommended to have our pica run at top speed cuz our pica wasn't designed to sprint at high velocity. Its a city car. Unless you modify the stock engine to withstand intense driving then its more safer. Also the stock tires should be replaced to handle higher velocity.
As for me, I just drive it around breezily and reach High speeds and revs in short periods.
Tim 584. I don't think you should be trying to get those speeds out of your picanto so soon. Give the little beast some time to settle in! I hope we don't hear that you have to take it to the garage with a big busted engine problem. 550km on a full tank of around 35 litres is 15.7 km p litre (44.3 mpg) which is good. Look after the poor little thing. What colour is it? Do you have electri windows front and rear? Remote locking? Colour coded side trims and grill? If yes to any of these questions, then I'm envious! Flingo.
Lucky you! Mine is a boring 1.1LS, red, no colour coding. Electric front windows, air con but no remote locking, no fog lamps. (do you have fog in Brazil?) Is the engne still in one piece? (joke). I'm thinking of 'decorating' the black side moulding. I'll let you see the results if it works out.
