I have pica since dec. 2005. Now I have 40000 km. Consumption is going down after 10000km. Now I have arround 4,8 - 5l/100km. 550 km trailing throttle is absolut ok, when you execute few thinks.
1. fill the tank on maximum - mean, you must see level of gas in tank(sometimes i fill my tank 15 minutes)
2. accelerate very slowly and you can't go over 2,500 rpm.
3. you can't go over 90 km/h
Of course during the winter is consumption higher. But remember, pica is very sensitive on gas pedal!!!

Right. Who's up for it?:- Best fuel consumption for the GS (1.0 litre), the LS?LX?SE (1.1litre) and the LS/LX Auto (1.1). This won't be scientific or under controlled conditions but I'm interested in just how economical both we and the picanto can be. Do let us know what the temperature and road conditions were around the time you were doing the trial. Let's go for a fill up and then see how much we use after 250miles/423kilometres. No cheating! 1st prize is an all expenses paid Ego Trip!
Best of luck. Flingo.
Sorry I forgot to include the diesel drivers. (Being based in the UK I forgot about you lucky people.) Anyway, since I started it I'd better make the first entry. 250 miles consumed 5.27 gallons (23.96 litres). I've been driving a three month old 1.1 LS under late Autumn conditions;- some sub zero starts but mostly between 0-5 degrees. Generally driving about 11 KM (6.5miles) each way to and from work. Trying to avoid using the heater to reduce warm up times but there comes a point when I really need to be comfortable and some mornings the windscreen has been frozen up so I had no choice. So that works out at 47.4 mpg (17.69 km per litre).

Hi anyone who may be interested. I'm submitting two more fuel consumption figures achieved under different conditions. First one is an impressive 49.7 mpg (18.16kilometres per litre). This was done by driving like a granny. No motorway driving. A few cold morning starts but temperature was generally 5-10degrees. Very gentle on the pedal when accelerating. Did a lot of driving at 55km in fifth gear. Reckon I could get more in the summer months when warm up times come down.
The second set of data is less encouraging. I got 42.7 mpg (15.60kilometres per litre) over the Christmas period. This included a fast 100 mile motorway dash at 75-80mph. The rest of the time was made up of many cold starts:- Shopping at various venues in one day. A lot of stop starts in heavy traffic. I suppose that isn't too bad when you consider the conditions. Weather much the same as the first set of stats.
Makes you think eh?
Hi everyone or anyone who is interested. Just done another 300 miles and here are the votes from the United Kingdom! 33.14 litres for 300.6 miles. (Car now has covered 4000miles) That was not good. = 41.23 mpg. All I can say is that I've had a lot of cold starts and as we all know fuel consumption is greatly increased during the first few miles with a cold engine. Continuing to drive like a granny! Anyone else out there? Any fuel consumption figures?
My Picanto is now coming up for 4 weeks old and has covered 2100km.
On a Recent trip around the East coast of the North island of New Zealand the car averaged 16.39 km/l or 6.10L/100km. The worst consumption was 15.08 km/l and the best 18.14 km/l.
The car is a 1.1L manual it had two adult occupants and all their luggage for a two week camping/backpacking holiday.
I drive, when appropriate (motorways open country) at between 105km/h and 115km/h.
The trip involved a huge range of driving conditions from straight flat roads to wickedly twisty mountain passes. I was admittedly not the fastest vehicle on the road, but neither was I the slowest by any margin. I did switch off the air conditioning when climbing steep gradients and when overtaking, but otherwise it remained on for the whole time.
I am really thrilled with my new car! My previous car was a european 2 litre coupe and although I did occasionally miss the extra 100 bhp I used to have, that was all I missed.
My bradnew Picanto runs 16.5 klicks for every one liter.
Here in Brazil the gas quality is'nt so good, almost not acceptable. I'm very impressed with your comments about the consumption.
We have a big auto magazine named quatro rodas (four wheels), in every issue they perform a lot of tests in a specific car. In the Picanto's article, they said that we can count with something about 16Km/L, so I'm very happy with my car.
Thank you Zoot and Fravin for your contributions to the fuel consumption competition. Interesting what you said, Zoot, about using the revs properly. Also amazed that the fuel consumption didn't rise significantly with the air con being on almost constantly as you stated. I suppose that it being your summer in the southern hemisphere the cars take less time to warm up.
Fravin, the comment about dodgy/crap/unreliable fuel is an intriguing one. I encountered something similar whilst driving in Poland six years ago. (Very low octane petrol). You didnt say what engine size you have and if it is an automatic.
OK comrades, its Zoot in the lead with 18.14 km per litre so far. Fravin, Zoot and I have all got cars that have done less than 8000 Km. Would like to hear from those with cars a little older. Any one done better?
P.S. my fuel guage doesnt show any movement for the first 60miles/95km then decends rapidly!
