I had the clutch replaced recently, under warranty, plate-bearing-clutch cover. It is still very stiff, so much so that i have lost a couple of my learner drivers who find my picanto too hard to drive. Any idea why the clutch is stiff?

key2driving...you have the same problem that i had..but after a few thousand miles after the new clutch it became easier to drive, but i must say it was very stiff(heavy)when changing gears...it'll be ok soon,if your not happy with the result then get it back to the dealers and shout at them about you loosing money and young drivers....

O.K., so now the end of the cable has broken off. It's the end nearest the pedal. Prior to this, the cable came off, and I put it back on again. Our old friend Murhwiz suggested sticking it on with gaffa tape ( I bet he's a Kia Dealership mechanic ) but alas, it is now broken. The dealer said they can do it on Wednesday which means I lose almost £400 in lost lesson fees, so I'm getting the cable in the morning and doing it myself (hopefully) or a mechanic who lives a couple of doors along. The saga continues.

Well, the cable has been replaced. I did the job myself. The original cable seems to have rusted internally. The new cable has produced the desired 'light' clutch. It's a shame that when I took it to Boongate Kia in Peterborough and asked them to sort it, they fitted a new clutch due to oil contamination from the leaking crankshaft oil seal but failed to diagnose or remedy the cable fault. I think this says a lot about Kia quality and SOME of their dealers. I suppose the way to look at it is "buy a cheap car and service it yourself".
