engine performance

I was looking for a good mini car and i was to buy a Panda(fiat) but by chance i visited a Kia showroom. the car is good, the price tage is really a competition to other japanees cars. i am impressed but i am a highway driver i want to know its engine performance at high speed.

i made 2300 kms with my 1.1 ex and 1400 were highway cruises. You shuoldn't expect to act 1.1l with 950 kgs move fast and furious, but you can easily run 120-130 km/h except the climbings. also a/c is a "not recommended" thing on the climbings, effects the car so badly.

this is the first gasoline car i drove and compared to our other diesel engine vehicles with a 2.7 displacement, this baby performs well.

the car can hit 100kph on 3rd gear and 130kph on 4th in 4000 rpm. the redline is at 6000. yeah, the a/c is not recommended on steep climbings.

i run near 180 with the 1100 .......its true ....my other car is a crx with itr cams etc and go over 240 but i am happy with litle picanto s performances .......

aloy_g, 100 in second and 130 in third? ıt's nice, i never tried but the machine does not like high rpms i think. I got 170 yesterday but i felt so irritated after 140. don't recommend over 130.

Living in Norway, the roads are not made for high speed and rarely can you go more than 110 km/hr. I have driven at up to 120 and the car handles very nicely at this speed. Fortunately, in this cold climate, I dont need AC at all. Nevertheless, passing going uphill is something I only dream about in my 1.0 liter 3 cylinder EX with manual transmission.

On the other hand, yesterday I went to the bank and an SUV owner passed a smallish parking space in the street, which I then nicely slid into.

its 100 on 3rd and 130 on 4th. the supplier here told us they made it up to 170 with no problems.

the acceleration is a bit sluggish from 2000 - 3000 rpm but after 3000 it good already. haven't tried letting the rpm go past 5k.

i drive around 120 miles a day in my picanto lx 1.1 here in the UK, and it's excellent at motorway cruising. It sits quite happily between 3500 and 4000 revs (75-85mph), which is perfect for motorway driving really. It can also pick up from that quite well considering the weight of the car and the size of the engine. I've had mine up to just under 100mph, and it still felt sure-footed, but had a slight wheel wobble (i've now evened out my tyre pressures to cure that, though).

with regards to 'normal' around-town driving, it's not the fastest to pull away by a long shot. acceleration is sluggish between 1000 and 3000 revs, but after 3000revs in 2nd and 3rd it picks up nicely, and can outpace many of the other 'small cars' that are currently around.

overall i'm really very pleased with mine (5500 miles on the clock in 10 weeks!). I'd recommend it for motorway cruising - it's comfortable, quiet, smooth and handles perfectly for cruising.

Hello Picanto friends !!!

In Spain, the max speed is 120 km/h, and Picanto is a fantastic machine for this speed. I run at 170 km/h yesterday but is not recomended. Over 4500 rpm the sound inside the car is iresistible. I think, the best place for be funny whit my Picanto, is inside the city. Its easy to drive and very agile car.

Here in greece the limit is 120klm but...we dont give a shit!
I almost got 180klm and the car is running very smoothly at 120-140klm.It is a V8 so it performs better at lower gears 1-3 and 3.500-4.500RPM.But you should pay attention to the sound of the engine after the 4.500RPM...You will hear a very descritre metalic sound...AMAZING. (for picanto 1.1 ONLY )
