I average (per the car dash) high 40's low 59's but bucking a head wind and hills it is not a happy car over the weekend went to Syracuse from Albany and it was 11 F and very windy mid 20's
Bought my new Kia Niro EX on March 22nd. Never had a Kia nor a hybrid so have learning curve. I have put 35 miles on car (all city) and disappointed because mileage readout shows about. 28-30 mpg in Eco mode. I expected 47-52 as advertise for city. Does the mpg improve after a break-in period? Right now I'm worried I might have a lemon?

Fully loaded Touring. 33 miles freeway commute each way with heavy stop and go most days. 3500 miles in - manually calculated I get between 47 and 49 mpg per tank. Individual trips gets in the 50s based on the screen, it's only local running to the store trips dragging me down.
Hey all, Kia and Hybrid noob here, but at just over 1k miles ( in just over 2 weeks of owning it) I'm still getting use to it. I had a heavily modified car, so going to this is a drastic change. But I am loving skipping the 2+ extra fill ups a month I figure will be saving!
Averaging around 45-50 mpg in 80% rush hour highway miles.
Sorry for double post, can't seem to edit my previous post.
Reached a new personal best for commute to or from the office on the way home at 27 miles in rush hour at 60.4 after having read up on hypermileing yesterday!
Eco-mode includes a wide range of driving habits. Concentrate on driving the Niro in the "EV" mode for the best mpg's. I've found that once you get the car up to speed, let off on the accelerator just a SLIGHT bit until the green EV light illuminates...and hold it there as best you can. With nearly 4000 miles on our EX, we've averaged over 52 mpg on EVERY tankful so far...and that includes a mix of highway and rural-road driving.
Averaging 40-ish on third tank. Lots of hills where we live, and mainly high-speed highway driving, which isn't as economical as low speed, electric driving. And, we use 'sport' mode a bunch on ramps and inclines. But the 40mpg is still 5 mpg better than our fraudulent, VW Diesel farce.
For those worried about getting a Touring because of the reduced gas milage.
I have 7,500 miles... I am routinely getting 47-49 mpg per tank (manually calculated) and getting 50+ for trips to work and back.
in fact I have only had one tank at below 47 - I got 42 on this last one because I was playing with sport and did a lot of short town trips.
Caveat:
I usually am alone in my commute driving
I usually have bumper to bumper for 30 miles each way
I use the driver only AC setting
