As well as offering improved economy and reduced emissions, Kia claims the addition of a plug-in hybrid powertrain has had "minimal impact" on the car's packaging - installing the battery pack under the boot floor and rear seats has left the cabin unchanged.

In an attempt to give the crossover some teeth, Kia will also be offering a Towing Pack which will allow the auto to tow loads of up to 1,300kg.

The headlights of the plug in are full LED, they look super cool.

" ........boot space is 324 litres down from the 373 litres of the hybrid."

But I'm still interested in this vehicle. Did a short test drive of the hybrid last week and was impressed with almost every aspect except the stitching on the seats. This was the Premium EX trim and the leather was puckering where it met the cloth. Looked like a rush job. Otherwise interior was VERY roomy both front and back. Cargo space was fine, although I'm guessing the PHEV will lose the underfloor bonus storage compartments.

It's not a SUV, C-SUV or even Crossover imo. It's a well designed wagon/hatchback. I do wish they would have skipped the plastic wheel arches though. It does nothing to make it feel more SUV like and actually detracts from the attractive colors on offer.
