Thermostat?

This past week I noticed that my borrego was not heating up like it should. The temperature gauge reads cold for about 10 minutes of driving before moving up to where it should be. Also, the air coming out of the vents isn't very hot like it used to be.

I'm thinking the thermostat is stuck open causing the engine to be cooled too much.

Unfortunately, the thermostat for the V8 is around $100. The V6 is around $20. And it is kind of a pain to take out from what I can see. Anyone have to do this before on a V8? I ordered the part a few days ago and will give it a try.

If you don't mind, could you post the section on removing the throttle body? It is one of the steps in the process. I am curious as to what needs to be done in that process and what the torque specs would be. If it is too involved I'll have a shop install it for me. Thanks

Finally got around to putting the new thermostat in. Took about 2 hours from start it finish. Drained radiator, removed air intake, throttle body, several hoses and clamps, and then the thermostat. The V8 thermostat/housing is all one piece which explains the price. Got it all back together and it runs great. The temp gauge came up to a normal operating temp much faster.
