Default Airbag warning light

My airbag warning light has come on, on my 54 plate Magentis. Is there an easy way to reset this?

The air bag system runs on different codes than the standard code reader so taking it to a free place won't really help.

I know usually the sensor or wiring for the sensor is the cause, but sometimes it can be the airbag controller module, to check for sure you'll have to take it to a place that will service airbag systems and/or has the appropriate scanner.

It is probably a job for the KIA hi scan or GDS system, most likely a dealer job.

Before you go to kia try unpluging and reconecting airbag wires under the seat. That helped me, the light turned off.
i took the car to the dealer a few weeks later for some thing else and asked them to pull the airbag codes....and he found in history side arirbag wireing harness error. He cleared it since than all clear.
Hope it helps

It is common for the wires in many of the steering wheel mounted airbags to become frayed and disconnected.

I found the wire broken off right where it connects to the passenger seat belt clasp (receiver end). The wire was hanging loose under the seat. Will have to get a new receiver which will come with wire and connector. (simple bolt on repair, once I get a replacement).
