Default 2007 2.7lx Towing

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has done any towing with their Optima.
I know that the 4 cyl is not recomended for towing therefore I am interested in the 6 cyls towing. I am looking at possibly getting a small 4 x 6 enclosed trailer for short hauls 10-15 miles most of the time with a total weight (including trailer) of around 1200lbs.
Thanks for any input, Jim

1200 lbs? The V6 Optima will eat that up. I hauled 1000 lbs of people (5 people) in my old 4-banger Optima and it had no problems at all.

1200 lbs is the equivalent of 5 really fat people riding in your car. The car is made to haul 5 people. If you are pulling that weight behind your car, instead of in it, what's the difference (besides obvious stuff like the trailer swinging around behind you, etc)?

I know that they sell tow kits for the Optima. I would just check the manual to see how much you can "safely" haul. I imagine that 1200 lbs would be more than acceptable.
