Default Kia Repair service? / Bank 1 Running Lean CEL

I was wondering, for those of you that have work done regularly ( or irregularly for that matter ) at a Kia Dealership, how good is the quality on their workmanship?

Reason why i ask, is becuase i have a 2001 kia optima v4, that they have had more this year than i have myself! My warranty has since expired on April 23rd, and the same problem has yet to been fixed. (Bank 1 Running Lean) and this CEL came on this past december. They have replaced my ecu, belts, timing, valvles, crankshaft, speed sensors, supposedly cleaned a big carbon buildup in my engine..twice in the past month and a half...which doesnt seem right to me...

And last but not least, they replaced my transmission. Yet anytime i start to accelerate past 50+ MPH, that CEL code will pop on.

Does anyone know how the lemon law can pertain to this? (I live in Florida) or any suggestions as to what i should do? I am currently bumming rides off anyone who can give me, but it is a burden to me and them to arrange for these on a daily basis, especially with multiple jobs.

If anyone has any advice, comments or suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

#1 I hope they didnt replace you trans because of a lean code
#2 They have replaced my ecu, belts, timing, valvles, crankshaft, speed sensors, supposedly cleaned a big carbon buildup in my engine. was this all because of the lean code??
#3 did they look at os sensors or maybe a Mass air flow sensor
#4 where are you from i never want to go there in case my car breaks

Was able to use the lemon law in PA to get things done.

Check your laws as there's a process you'll need to go thru. I simply contacted my attorney general's office and that got them off their dead A$$.

IMO in Fl. you'll need to give the dealer 3 tries for the same problem. Then Kia gets one final shot at it. Then you need to get in touch with whomever in your state.

Good luck.

1. They said it was throwing tranny codes at them...hasnt ever for me so i cant vouch for that.
2. speed sensor, o2 sensor, "carbon buildup" and belts were replaced because of this code. (Not goin The crankshaft & valves were prior to, but could be the start of this horrendous problem.
3. yes both front and back sensors were checked & replaced...3 times...mass air flow was checked and verified working, and fuel filter & valves were checked / replaced as neccessary.
4. this is Gatorland Kia, run under the Gatorland Toyata here in Gainesville Florida.

5. (Well not a question but a statement) IMO, i dont believe the mechanics there are 100% qualified to work there. Only reason why i have to deal with them is because this was an issue under warranty...and only a kia dealership shop can fix.

Default Update

Kia Still hasn't fixed my CEL. It will continously stay on...But have an update on "other things" it has been giving them.

The Manager Explained that when the car is cold, it has hesitation. once the temp reaches normal, then it runs fine. Just when the car "sits" for periods of times, then it will hesistate until the abnormal warmup of the car has completed.

On another note, here are some more codes that has been giving them:
Crank shaft error, crank shaft sensor, Cylinder 1,2,3 misfireing, and fuel tank pressure and other various evap. codes.

The car has been checked "from top to bottom"

They are replacing the fuel tank sensors and will be installed today.
Other than that, the tech said the car would run fine, just with the CEL on all the time. (For those of you that are very picky about things...i dislike having a CEL on 24/7. Its very bothersome and if something else would cause a CEL, how am i supposed to know its something different than the previous? I cant constantly read the codes while im driving...

I had a situation with my 02 Optima running lean and sometimes run really rough and die at an idle. I disconnected the Mass Airflow Sensor and it ran closer to normal (disconnecting will give the computer a "default" code but may quiver when taking your foot of the gas) I replaced my mass airflow sensor and took off the catylitic converter and the car runs and performs better than before I had the problem. It still passed a smog inspection in California
