Default 2003 Optima Upgrade amplifier

How do I get to the remote Amp.
I can see the black box hanging down in the trunk but not how to "open" it.
I installed a new head unit then found out the amp is bad so I hope to jump out the amp rather than run all new speaker wire.
any help would be appreciated, it is my wife's car and she has no sound.

Default Little Black Box

The black box holds the rewind for the middle passenger shoulder harness.
The online service manual does not mention an auxillary amp for my model at all. It does mention an amp for the newer Optima (MG) and that seems to be mounted in or on the right rear wheel well.
I guess I'll take apart that area and see what's there unless I hear a better idea.

The amp should be located on the floorboard behind the right rear side of the seat. If the amp is not located here, it has also been reported at another location. This location is behind metal strut between passenger side wheel well & tail lamp assembly. The amp will be mounted using three brass or gold colored bolts.
