Default 06 Kia door panel removal

Howdy all.
Just been working on my grandson's Spectra and thought I'd share a little write-up with the community.
I've already gotten some very valuable help reading the forums and thought I'd share this simple "how to" for those who don't have a lot of experience pulling door panels.

ByTor knows I've broken plenty of door panels and various other parts on vehicles I've had to take apart for the first time over the years. If it's not a Jeep, I'm limited in experience, but I'm learning all the time. Hopefully my experiences will save someone else a broken panel, connector, or cracked plastic parts.

I tried to save the write up here on the forum, but can't as it's too large due to pictures. Therefore I posted it on my Jeep site. The main problem I have with forums is that unlike Yahoo groups for example, there is no "technical files" section where write-ups w/ pictures can be saved and a knowledge base can be built. Seems a major flaw.
But if anyone finds it useful, they can reference it here:
streetcomanches.zohosites.com

The site requires no registrations, is not commercial, and has nothing for sale.
It's just a place for my stuff.
Hope it's helpful.

Hi JeepNut..
Welcome to kia-forums!
I see you also run Linux (openSuSE). I run generic forms of Ubuntu and Kubuntu..
Great operating system.

Not usable on kiatechinfo.com though. That site REQUIRES Windows (XP/Vista/7)...IE (6~9) with compatability mode enabled, and Adobe SVG (scaled vector graphics) installed.. No other software works there.

I have had my doors apart on both of our Spectras many times...
I hope you find the information here useful in the repairs of your grandson's Spectra.
Keep an eye on the timing/cam belt and replace it EVERY 60k miles, drain/refill the auto tranny every 30k... and the car will do 300k miles.. The engine is based upon an earlier Mazda design and the tranny is a Ford/Mazda design that was also used in the Escort (4EAT).

Thanks for the welcome!
I've browsed quite a bit already and noticed you consistently providing expert info and great practical knowledge. Thanks! for being out there.

re: kiatechinfo.com ---holy cow, how cheezy....well it'll be THEIR loss not mine. It won't stop me from maintaining the Kia. I'll find a way to resolve anything that might happen, but it just MIGHT encourage me to recommend against Kia in conversation.
I've been a JeepNut for 30+ years and have driven only Jeeps for a very long time, but I do kinda like the Kia. Seems to have several nice features not normally found on an "entry level" vehicle. After reading several posts, I think it'll be a great car for him.

But I definitely take pleasure in calling out websites that force users to a sub-standard operating system. I will call the support number on Monday to chastise them about their choice and suggest that they should hire a competent site designer who knows how to program to standards accepted the world over, not just in Redmond.

I'm proud to say I've successfully upgraded 3 people in the last year to open source s/w and every one of them are pleased as they can be with the way openSuSE works compared to their previous, closed source brand. Especially when they ask me how to do something and the software to do it with is FREE!!! And my youngest grandson is fluent in Linux now. Started him out when he was about 8yrs old so he's totally comfortable in a *nx world.
Fixing brainwashed sheep one mind at a time takes time.
As you may have heard before... in a world without walls or fences who needs Windows or Gates?

In any case I'll be happy to post help files as I encounter a need to create them.
Happy Motoring!

I wouldn't be to harsh on KIA for their website... They provide ALL the information that other car manufactors charge for for FREE there.. The persons administering this site have chosen not to upgrade the obsolite software and like most people think... there is only one way to provide a web site... SAD...
You could install windoz in a virtual window and allow it to play in it's own sandbox if you desire the information.
I have been providing MS support for my friends and past associates (retired). After cleaning viruses, malware, trojan horses, damaged boot sectors, and broken OS's in theirs...I find I take refuge in my Linux machines...
I also have "moved" others to Linux with great success and little remorse on thier part...
KIA is a lot like Linux...A well built underdog with a great foundation (engine/tranny)..Under valued..and often over looked..
with users providing hard learned support for their "babies"...
