Unhappy Reset anti theft system. PLEASE HELP!!!

I have a 2003 Kia Spectra and my husband installed an aftermarket stereo in it. I don't believe he unplugged the battery before doing this and left the key in the ignition. So now the key won't turn all the way to pull out the key. I called the parts store and they said to disconnect the battery for 30 minutes and then try but that didn't work. Does anyone know what I should do? Thanks in advance!

Why? The power to the radio should be off when the key isn't in the ON or ACC position. Unless he's just blindly cutting wires, it shouldn't be an issue, even it the key was on, for that matter. You're painting with a mighty broad brush - "short out the whole car" lol. Ever hear of fuses?
