Default 08 spectra5 Blank button removal

OK, so I have been installing some stuff that requires switches in my car. Well, seems like a good place to mount those switches are where all those little blanks switch plates are. So, I have run into two problems with this.

On the left, where the dash dimmer thingie is, there are 4 empty switch plates. One has my led for the alarm, another has a switch for my neon. The other two though, have some wire connected to the back of them. I have no idea what that wire is!!! Any clues? It looks like its the wire for the switch that should be there. Its not really connected to anything though.

Also, there is another blank switch next to the hazards switch that I cant seem to pry off. Anyone get that one off with some success?

i was also curious of those wires by the dimmer, i'm always fearful of gold wires (which mine were) because they quite typically indicate airbags... so i thought that was possibly some kind of reset or bypass. Probably not, i just dont like cloth in the face.

All our cars have the same wiring harness. Makes it easier and more economical to manufacture that way. Some models they add switches and hardware for certain options to complete the circuit. On the Spec5's there are two plugs behind that little panel that are not used but still hot. One is a trunk release whitch is on the sedan, and I forget now what the other one is. For the life of me I can not figure out why they do not have a hatch relese switch as the plug is there for one. I used the hot wire off these plugs to power up some goodies. Open your door and pry the end panel off of the dashboard, then you can unscrew the dash lower panel pull it off and take the switch panel off. Happy motoring.

are you talking about the ones next to the steering column or in the center console? For that trunk release one...what if I connect a switch, will something happen? Like maybe an ejection seat or something

The panel to the left of the steering wheel. There is a dimmer switch and the rest are blank. There should be two plugs behind them that are not connected to anything. you can use them to power up something else. Just to be on the safe side, do'nt sit in the seat when you mess with it.
