whats up new here. g/f just got a new 07 spectra EX 4dr 2.0L auto. i was wondering what i can do to get some more torque out of her. it drives great and the mpgs are a godsend compared to my truck (98 dodge ram 1500 5.9L w/ about 10mpg). the car is kinda sluggish when you take off but good in the high rpm. i was just wondering what kind of performance parts are out there for it. this is my first with an import. my only concern is to kinda keep it quiet (so she wont know ive talked her into the intake by telling her that it makes a lot of noise in high rpm so might as well make it sound good right? if you guys could help me out it would be much appreciated.
thanx

thats what i plan on doing but do the short ram intake. i need the spare tire for her ( even though she doesnt know how to change it). i know i need more air in but i need a quiet way to get it out ( you cant eat if you cant poop, i.e. what goes in must come out). also if theres any motor work to do. besides boost. are there any cams (mild) header, tb, or any little trick to modify any of this. i know im new to KIA but i used to own a 12.8 sec boosted cavalier 2.4L dohc. so im not new to the game. im just lookin for some insight for more power for it or passing power to the g/f i really appreciate the info though. would it be easy to find an intake for it? or would it be better to just build one myself? i do appreciate the insight though simpsonbuck.
thanx again

Ok, I thought you meant just a "little" more power.
First of all, I would not buy a Kia and try to make it fast. I would buy a fast car and make it faster.
Anyway, Forced induction, CAI, bigger diameter piping, hi flow racing headers, weight reduction such as carbon fiber hood, and lighter rims, then go to a dyno shop and have them tune your motor.
I bet it would move.

I would build my own and just buy a quality filter.
When you buy "name" intakes that is what you're buying, the name. IMO, metal is metal and as long as it is air tight you will have no problem. A quality filter is key.
On the other hand, you can spend 800 or so for a CAI and cat back exhaust and only see minimal gains.
Boost is the most cost effective way of gaining HP to the wheel on a four banger.
My 0.02.

sorry to tell you this but metal is not just metal. usaully when you buy an aftermarket name brand intake you get heat resistant metal(ceramic coated) and everything you need to hook it up easily but im with you on not wanting to spend 300 on an intake but go on ebay and find a cold air intake for like 30dollars
you can get a cheap intake off e-bay for an accord and it will fit with a little tweaking. i went with spectre performance, just bought the 45* elbow, filter and couplings. i did re-use some of the stock clamps. you can go to some online sites for performance parts KFX, seoulful raceing, rev autoworks. just to name a few. my opinion though, these cars arent worth boosting. i dont think they would handle it well. you can polish a turd, but you still wind up with poop on your hands.
Haha that is very true, I didnt want to tune out my specrta, just a couple bolt on mods for performance, mainly the suspension, how hard would it be to swap out the front suspension for new ones?
