Default 08 Spectra5 Terrible Wind Noise

The first time I took my new Spectra5 out on the highway on a windy day, such a howling started that I pulled over thinking something was very wrong. I eventually figured out that the noise is in the roof, and it only happens when there is a cross wind. My dealer doesn't seem interested in it at all. Has this happened to anyone else? And I did use the search feature first.
Thanks.

I do get a good howling in strong crosswinds. First thing i'd check is all your door seals to make sure you don't have any loose spots or breaks. Also i'm curious of what you were driving before just to get an idea of what kind of wind noise you were hearing before. The aerodymanics of each vehicle effect the types and volume of noise created, also vehicles with better sound proofing obviously have considerably less noise penetration.

Default 08 Spectra5 Terrible Wind Noise

I've driven GrandAms, a Saturn, a Toyota, and a Camaro, and I've heard nothing like this. At first, when I didn't realize it was coming from above, I pulled over and stopped because it began suddenly and was so loud, I thought something was terribly wrong with the car. It was my first trip out of the city with about 2000 kms on it. To best describe it.... if you can visualize someone trying to make music be running his finger around the rim of a crystal glass... and then amplify it.

Got something similar to that when I go over 95. Weird howling noise. Might be the same thing.

could be a lip somewhere wasn't sealed right or is letting air in but only when the cross wind hit's it at a certain angle.

What speeds are you traveling when this occurs typically.

Could the sound also be compared to blowing air across the top of a coke bottle.

Coke bottle, crystal glass... yep same idea. I must confess that "highway speed" would be 110-120.

I was doing 120 on the toll road just last night and the same thing happened to me, and I probably would have freaked out if I hadn't read this thread earlier.

I noticed it sounded like it was in the ldriver side window, and when I put my hand up towards my driver side window, I felt air coming through.

Do you mean 120 mph? Are you serious? And you are complaining about howling noise at the dealership?

It's astonishing just how kooky some people are. Sorry buy if you are driving that fast you are a very selfish person who doesn't deserve to drive an automobile in society.

Please don't waste our time with this nonsense. Nothing personal. Just my response.

There must be some Canadians and Americans on here... My 120 is kmph, which would be about 70-75 mph.

Its also a bit intermittent. Sometimes I can get to 100MPH without the noise, other times I can. I am so used to driving my old '87 blazer that I don't notice how fast I'm going sometimes. I could tell before by how hard I heard the engine working (it was straining at 75MPH in the blazer haha) so now I barely here the engine start to complain and I look down and I'm doing 95+. So I'm like crap! I need to slow down. So its not always on purpose.

But anyhow, I have been trying to figure out how I should fix it because its annoying. I figure I can get someone to use a strong leaf blower on my car and I can sit inside and listen/look for the noise. Anyone think that will work? ...Now to find a leaf blower.
