A case on the evap systems? wow ok whew.......maybe that is it then? If you want maybe just scan it and email it to me directly? I may have time to get them to just look at it here or something.......if I can convince them to

I don't know if this is related, but I too had my O2 sensor replaced at under 10k. Since then, my check engine light is on almost every day, all day. After they replaced the sensor and my check engine light came back on, they told me that the error light is a "phantom error" and that a software fix is in the works. This was bacl in March of 2006. I recently had my scheduled maintenance on the car and was told the software fix still isn't out yet, so I keep waiting. The dealer said that if the light comes on, but I don't notice a change in performance, then to not bother bringing the car in because there is nothing "wrong" with the car, other than the "phantom error".

While my car runs great, and always has, it sure is embarrassing for me, and hurting Kia's reputation when I have to explain to my passengers why my check engine light is on all the time for a 2006 car.

Default It is not just me then

I am just sick of them telling me to bring it in and it going off 10 miles before I get there.......or going in, them saying it is the sensor........then it going off before I bring it back in for the appt. Now the airbag light is going on and off inappropriately(saying it is disarmed when there is someone heavy enough in the seat that it should be armed etc).

Maybe my lights are all phantom lights also. There is a ghost in the machine.

Go me!! Light is on again, 10030 error again!! how many times is this? Dealer is checking with Kia to find out if maybe there is something causing the sensor to repeatedly go bad.........

I asked about a field agent. We move from this state to another in count them 3 weeks.......it is over a 5000 mile drive.........the gas mileage SUCKS when the light is on for some reason and I am not digging this right now.........someone tell me what to do!!! I hope my dealer comes thru for me and gets this fixed the RIGHT WAY AND FAST.......please someone restore my faith in this product and FAST!

cmslick what mpg are you getting now? I bought this car largely for the and the performance.........I STILL love how the car handles and drives, I REALLY DO, but good golly I really do not think that I am going to be able to recommend it to anyone. Honestly I have not YET shared this issue with anyone else locally and not many of my non local friends cuz I do not want to badmouth Kia JUST YET........want to let them make it right first but am RAPIDLY losing patience............

They finally decided after several...........ok a zillion times in that ours is a phantom light also.........some fix has come out...........call, you can get it fixed, a 'field rep' or someone may have to be flown it to do it--which is what was going to have to be done in this case if it were not for the fact that we are moving 5000 miles from here in two weeks.........anyhow........there is a fix now evidently and my car has the 'ghost' also...........

Blah........I assumed my crappy gas mileage was due to the O2 sensor being out so often, now we have to figure why it has been so bad this whole last year!

Has anyone at the dealership told you about the evap code that will trip if you don't click your gas cap 3 or 4 times after you fuel up? We have a lot of those in the dealership and it is almost always what it is. Try doing that and then driving for a week. Let me know what happens.

Default hmm

Havnt been on here for a while but i see things have not changed. Got an 06 spectra bought new. The steering still shakes at 70 mph and no one can fix it. Had a few probs with it but done want to waist time going into it all. Sick of the dealers they are all the same.....CRAP. Just waiting to get this christmas over then im trading it in for a car that will work. Cant wait for it to be gone and all the hassle with dealers etc. Never will i recomend a kia to anyone that i know, and as long as im breathing i will never own another. Gotta be good for kia, first kia ive ever owned and will be the last. The only advice i can give, is get ride of it, your life will be sooooo much better without a kia.

Default I´d like to tell this to Schnauzer and to all

I started to post here because of the problems I´ve been having with my car.
First of all I´m from EL SALVADOR (central america, between south and north america for the ones that don´t know where central america is)

My dealer is AUTOKIA SA DE CV which is managed by TOYOTA DIDEA (or simply DIDEA) which gives service through its car garage DIDEA TALLERES

Well, told that I can continue with what I was going to tell you:

I bought my KIA RIO 2005 LS WAGON (best known in the USA as rio cinco) in June 10th (it was a friday I will never forget it) and since the very first day I´ve been having problems with it.

The very same day I got it the AC was not functioning, I called the sales rep (his name was Enrique Gutierrez) and he told me to take my car to the garage to be checked. That night was raining and I wanted to use the AC for preventing stem in the windows.
The next day I took it to the garage and they found there were no electrical relays for the AC compressor and the condenser FAN of the receiver drier. Yes! my car came with missing components from factory!!!
Guess what? they didn´t have spare parts for the missing parts and they have to order them (I was going to wait a month for them) so I started to complain and they told me that my sales rep would solve the situation. He went to the parking lot where all the new cars were and open the hood of another car same as mine took the relays and gave them to me. Later he installed them in my car.

OK, you think this is enough or was the end of my problems with this car? NO!!!! this was just the begining.

I will list what I can remember (some of my problems HAVE NOT BEEN SOLVED YET!):

- I got changed the HO2S (heated oxigen sensor) both of them.

- I got cleaned the combustion chamber (they had it 43 days. They even had to order a gasket for the cylinder head to Kia Guatemala because they didn´t have in stock)
Did I mention that I had no car while they were doing this?

- since the 1st month I started to notice a noise (nocking noise) and they keep saying is the gas the problem. But I use Esso or Texaco Premium and I know this is not the problem because I ask to other persons with the same car and none of them report the noise. I even drove a friends car (which he actually uses as taxi) and no noise but same car...huge difference.

- They changed the front pipe assembly from the exhaust system that goes after the manifold at the 3rd or 4th month beacuse it was vibrating and making a noise. To this date I don´t know why this part got damaged. (time without my car: 2 weeks)

- My car started to lost power suddenly and to this date (septemper the 3rd/2007) it continues to do it suddenly and ramdomly. It can pass weeks or months without the problem but then suddenly it looses power for no reason.

Did I mentioned I use Iridium spark plugs and that I already changed the plugs cable 2 times? (just to see if it improves condition) and once was under my cost!

- The ENGINE of my car was finally changed in february of this year after a Korean tech (Hyung Gyu Choi) came to my country in september of 2006 and heard the noise of the engine and some other problems I was having.

They changed the engine under warranty... do you think the problem was solved? NO I´m still having the same problems. knocking and loosing power!!!

- the clutch has been changed twice (2 times!!! can you beleive it? I´m actually using the 3rd one in 26 months!!!)
The first one was changed under warranty at the 14 months of having this beast because on oil seal allowed oil to the clucth causing slippage.
The second was changed 3 months ago and the warranty just covered the release bearing that was making noise.

- the power steering pump was changed too because of a noise in a belt.

I don´t remember what else has been changed but this car is a total mess and the dealer they don´t know how to "fix the problems right the first time"....

UPDATE:

Why I bought this piece of junk? because 7 years ago to be exact in November 4th /1999 I bought my first kia (which i still have ) and this KIA AVELLA DELTA (known and comercialized in the USA as Ford Aspire) was so damn good that I decided to put my trust again in this brand.

Would you beleive me if I tell you I´ve never had the necessity of changing the clucth to this car in 7 years????!!!!

But now I´m totally dissapointed...many people comes to me telling me to sell it but in the end if I sell it I will sell problems to the one that buys it and I could have problems for that too...
I have asked my dealer to replace my car thousands of times and already visited an office similar in my country to the BBB but they stand behind the dealer and do not respect the consumer. Laws are a *s*h*i*t* here!!!
What Kia should do is to find the problems and fix them.
Two techs have come from Korea to El Salvador and in half an hour they expect to resolve all the problems of the cars of their customers. You make an appointment and you take your car for the kia service clinic and voilá they expect to resolve all the f*u*c*ki*ng problems in their f*u*c*k*i*ng cars! 30 minutes!!! what a wonderful service!!!!!! the best part of all is that they don´t chew up a word of spanish just people like me that can speak a little english can go to them directly and expose the problems with the car

well i sympothize with everyone who is having problems with their cars, i certainly have had my share in the past, but not with my kia luckily, i bought a brand new 99 honda civic, within 8000 miles all 4 tires where wore out, the brakes where gone, and it shimmyed from day one from 50mph and up like it was falling apart, tryed to get it lemoned from about 1 month to 2 years and couldn't, nothing apparant was wrong, you could check the alignment the steering components to balance of the tyres and nothing was off, it was just a piece of crap, all mass car makers get them, its the unfortunate result of mass assembly line production,

I´d like to have a hotline to call and make a kia regional tech representative to check my car and solve all my problems but given the fact I live in a shitty country then I have no CUSTOMER SERVICE HOTLINE to call and I can do anything but to complain here...maybe Schnauzer could do something for me...as this car is always driving me crazy.
