Default Spectra5 2005 - Rear Wiper Blades

Hi All,

Just wondering what everyone has done when they need to replace the rear wiper blade on the Spectra5 (5 door hatchback)? I've tried ones purchased from Canadian Tire (Canadian hardware store) but they do not fit. I really don't want to go to the Kia dealer since they are likely to charge way too much money for one.

I did a quick Internet search to see if anyone else sold them but no luck.

Any suggestions.

Thanks

Parts at my local Kia dealer seem to be priced reasonably. It's usually the only place I can find air filters. Seems silly to not call the dealer to at least find out what they charge.

Not to mention how much is your time worth? Running around and buying stuff that doesn't fit?

Default Rear Wipeme blades

After driving around to only discover these rear wipers do not exist in this format and the dealers shop is only open on weekdays when I cannot make it, I figured I'd take a close look at the design. So I pulled the rear wiper arm out of its hook.

Seems the two metal rods/splines and the worn out rubber piece (all that remained of my blade) easily pull out of the wiper arm and can be replaced. To replace the blade, I just took one of my old front wiper blades and clipped the ends off, with some line cutters.

Then using the old rubber or the rods from the rear as a length guide, I trimmed off each bad end of my old front wiper until it matched the length of my rear wiper.

Then, installed the metal splines from my old rear wiper into the top slot of the clipped front wiper rubber, and inserted from one end to the other of the rear wiper arm. It just took a bit of flexing to get it into the last hook on the wiper arm.

Voila!! A free rear wiper.
