Unhappy Bad dealer

Just wondering how people feel about kia dealers. I moved from the uk to the usa and bought a brand new kia spectra 06 about 5 weeks ago. from picking the car up and driving it i found that when driving at around 70 the streeing wheel vibrates. Took it back to the dealer two times now and still the same problem only now its around 75 that it does it. the dealer said they ballenced the wheels and corrected the tow in as it would pull to right also. One thing i find strange over here about car dealers is that they wont do anything unless its done through the sales rep, why is that, is that the norm here. Also it was late at night when i took the car home and was only given one key and one keyfob. After two days taken off work i now have two keys and two fobs, yet they still forgot to program the second fob. N ow they want me to take it back again to get this done, yet another day off work that they think i can just do anytime and loose money for there poor service. Is there a way to program the thing myself without wasting another day off work. Are all dealers the same here in the usa. What should have been a good day with a new car and all hass turnned into a huge pain in the butt. Tried to call them today coudlnt arrange anything because the sales rep who sold me the car was not in. As we say in the uk, what a load of bollicks. Any help as to what the steering vibration could be and how to program the fob would be great help. Oh and by the way i did complain to the kia consumer number and complained about the crap service. I will never go back to that dealer again as long as i live. Sorry to be pain guys but i just need to vent a little anger. Any help on the above would be great.

Paragraphs are good.

I've never heard of a dealer where you have to go through the sales rep to get service. It's understandable that he would have to help you get the missing key because that would be his screw up, but warranty work like the 75mph shake only requires a call to the service department normally.

If you have another dealer in the area, I'd try taking it there and see if your service improves.

List your dealer's name and address here so that I may have your claims investigated farther by our dealership relations office. What has happened to you is not Kia policy and I have never heard of any customer going through a sales rep to get service. Please do think all dealers are the same. That is an impossibility to begin with since the dealerships are privately owned businesses. This may be the reason your dealer has his own way of doing things. Kia in America and at the Korean HQ where I am has ways to deal with things behind the scenes.

I hear your pain as I had to belly ache to my sales rep in order to get a safety issue handled that was over a month old.

Needless to say my Kia will not go back to the dealer except for warranty issues. Everything else, which I'm qualified to do, will be done in my shop.

I've had issues with the service department at my Kia dealer. I bought a Spectra5 and recently the transmission seemed to start having problems (which was resolve by me - I cleaned the coolant system and it seemed to make a difference). I took it into the service department, they had it for most of the day trying to diagnose what was wrong. Gave it back to me at the end of the day saying they weren't sure what the issue was but they would call me the next day to bring it in.

The next day I waited for the call and it never came. I waited a couple of days and was planning on calling them to see what was up. Then I took my car to another place for an oil change and coolant change, which fixed my problem.

And thanks to this forum I found out there is a Technical Service Bulletin for the problem I was having. If it comes back I will walk into the service department and give them the service bulletin number and tell them to get it before they do anything with my vehicle.

well maybe kia in Korea can address the wheel shimmy everyone seems to be having at 65-75 mph? I am sick and tired of the kia dealer and factory rep telling me that is the way the car was designed I find it hard to beleive they would design such a flaw in the car

Why wouldnt they? They are cheap pos cars.

My dealer can't seem to fix mine and Kia said if there is not a factory defect they won't do anything.

We do not have a shimmy but I can say our dealer pretty much gives all the attention to the Mazda and Chevy customers and ignores the Kia people........I imagine for the POS reasons? I am not sure..........someone said under their breath 'you get what you pay for' or something.........seems like they should screen their dealers better because look what we get stuck with now. Where else can we get warranty service done, do we have other choices besides the dealer at this point?

I HAVE called Kia directly, the lady apologized and guess what, I have still had no resolution. I have not even had a free oil change offered to me for all of my trouble. My O2 sensor has gone out NUMEROUS times, it RIGHT now is showing check engine again as we speak. They keep saying to come back in, I have nothing better to do then leave my car there. I got treated so badly by a lady there.......oh don't get me started. The service manager got involved but still the problem is not fixed and on top of it my car got RUN INTO while it was there and they have not fixed the damage yet. They denied there being recalls to the airbags needing to be done for a long time until I proved to them that they needed to be done, and I have a child, then once I proved it, made and appt and took it in, left it two days, picked it up.......they still had not fixed it because they forgot to order the right parts even though I had made the appointment weeks in advance. There is so much more but I am shaking typing this.

What is so sad, is, I *think* I like my car but I think it is just the dealer I dislike.............but it is the only one in the area. I think they just do not know how to fix the problem.

Default bad dealers

hi. Dealer problems aren't unique to the USA. I'm in France and it's a big problem. It's infuriating as Kia is now offering 7 yrs guarantee on the Cee'd model. I have a Cerato and 18mths into a 3 yr guarantee I discovered that there are problems getting it respected. I had problems with the car that are covered by guarantee but the dealer made me pay first saying that with Kia you pay first and then the dealer sends a guarantee claim to Kia's head office. I paid. Kia never reimbursed saying that I had excessive mileage ,which was only around ten thousand miles at the time!!! I had to get a lawyer. It took six months to get my money back. Now whenever I see another Kia and the owner is around I always ask if they can recommend a dealership for servicing. In France I haven't yet found a happy Kia owner. Even one guy who bought three Cerato's for his business found that he had three vastly differing bills for regular service work for the same model, motor and mileage!
