Question Just got my 06 Kia Spectra EX - Suggestions please?

Hello everybody! I'm 100% brand new here, and I hope to learn
from the Kia owners here more about my new vehicle.

After 10 years of driving my 96 Grand Am, I finally traded it in this past
Tuesday night I and took possession of my 06 Kia Spectra EX.

It has an automatic transmission, as it is my full-time vehicle, and I
wanted something easy to drive in the winter.

So far I absolutely love it. Great gas mileage, SIX airbags!, enough pep
to do what I need to, a huge trunk, and nice rims. It is a great car.

My first questions are these:

1. I've seen the Ebay mod chip "resistor" that supposedly boost HP here:

eBay Motors: +20HP POWER SPEED CHIP KIA RIO OR SPECTRA ALL YEARS (item 330074149849 end time Jan-28-07 19:30:00 PST)

I've read on this forum that it is junk, and actually may harm my new car.
I'd love to find a cheap mod chip or ???? to add HP to the car, and any
information on what I could do would be very much appreciated.

2. I've also seen on Ebay the "Vortex Generator" shown here:

eBay Motors: SAVE ON GAS!!! Kia Rio/Spectra/Magentis/Amanti (item 270081026341 end time Jan-25-07 15:50:06 PST)

Is that junk and a ripoff too, or would it actually boost HP and/or
increase my fuel mileage?

Those are the only two things I want to do to my car so far - boost HP
and increase gas mileage if possible (two direct opposites I know) and
any information on how I'd go about either one cheaply would be very
much appreciated.

Thanks very much for looking!

I second that - they are all junk.

Congrats on a neat looking car, and welcome to the forum.

You cannot boost power without a cost - the cost of this is more often reduced life, and fuel consumption.

Fuel savers are a hoax - good maintenance and conservative driving is the answer here.
