Default oil grade to use in 2006 spectra.

Hi everyone, had my first oil change done at the dealership. In canada they have a contract with petro canada for there oil. They used 5 w30, anyone here use the 5w20 if yes did you notice any difference in performance, gas milage ETC. I had the oil changed at 4300 kilometers from the factory fill. Shortly after i noticed a increase in milage of about four miles to the gallon. Now i don't no if its the oil or the fact the engine finally loosened up. The factory filled oil seemed to be fairly thick compared to the fresh oil change. Anyways i sure like my spectra. My wife and i test drove ,2006 elantra, civic, yaris, cobalt, corolla.rio, accent. Money was no object in our purchase, so the cheaper price did not sway us either way in our choice in this purchase, and the spectra really earned my respect after the test drive. The lower price was just a bonus. I know the elantra is almost the same car but to me the spectra is a better looking car. Anyways this is my first post here on the forum hopefully not my last. P.S Yes i test drove the honda and toyota and i was not impresed with these cars at all the kia offered better ride more room, almost the same perfomance and this car at speed on the highway was much quieter than the supposedly superior honda and toyota .So the big boys aren't looking over there shoulder anymore, they are now looking kia and hyundai square in the eyes.

I got my Spectra in December 05 and since the first oil change I have been using the 5w30 synthetic...I noticed a difference when I started to use the synthetic...I dont know much about the difference in the 5w30 abd 5w20...if you find out anything or try the 5w20 let me know how it does...

I run the synthetic 5w-30 all year long. I think that’s what the book calls for in any weather. Regardless mine was happy all summer here in the high desert, ac blasting, and climbing mountains. I’d like to change the manual transmission fluid over to synthetic. Has anyone done that yet? If so what did you use?

While I'm partial to 5W-20, 5W-30 is fine.

You live in Canada. Change to a nice SYNTHETIC 0w30 or 5w30 oil and sleep good at night. Your increase in mileage has nothing to do with the oil. It has more to do with the fact that the car is becoming closer to being broken in. Brand doesn't really matter. Even the Supertech 2000 at Wal-Fart will do you well.
