Default help! whining nosie!

there is a whining sound comming from under the hood. it only happens when i press the gas peddle, its getting to where it happens all the time, i dont know whats wrong and i dont know what to do! i'm hoping for some help on here! thanks in advance!

2000 kia spectra, btw

i'm no expert on these forums, but whining sound that happens when you press the gas peddle? maybe a loose/frayed belt...?

I would definately go with the belt....

I have the same car mine is a 5 speed try pressing the gas without it in gear and see if it does, my car has the same problem and I think it is the transmision. I also learn not to long ago that the timing belt also has to be replaced every so often as well
