Well, what engine are we talking about?? I have 1.6 litre petrol carato, and I like it alot so far... but:

Basically, as picky as I am about cars, i have found only a couple of things that I don't like about cerato. First, 1.6 litre gasoline engine is loooud, reallly loud. Not "sports car enjoyable" loud, but rather -can't bare this noise any more- loud, especially if you rev it up above 3k. That makes you drive it more or less on lo rpm, where you can't exploit full potential of the engine. Other thing I noticed too, is a so called "revs hanging" symptom on manual shifting, where after releasing the gas pedal, revs stay on and do not want to drop down for a second or two... That makes your ride again very "slow&dull"... It has been pointed out several times here on the forum, but noone suggested any real solution... I guess, changing the ECU mapping would do the trick.

Ok, 2.0 litre engine is quita a different pair of pants. It goes good, it sounds better and it has quite decent engine refinement. But it burns a lot of fuel too. So, if you live in the States, it won't be such a big deal, but here in Europe diesels are more for your money.

1.5 litre CRDi goes, sounds & feels quite good, 1.6 liter CRDi even better.

overall quality is pretty much great. After 3 years, still have no squeeks nor crickets in my dash...
Only thing I had to go to the service shop for, besides the regular servicing was to have the vent grill fixed after the shop mechanics broke it while installing stereo system. Nothing else, what so ever.

Hope that helped even a bit!!!

Hello

Top speed peaks at about 180 kph, (1.6 litre gas. engine).
Stability and handling are a bit on the average side, not too tippy, not to rigid, all in all average. The suspension is a bit loud going over smaller bumps, the steering wheel is a bit uncooperative feedback wise...
The car tends to oversteer a bit when forcing it too much....

To sum it all up, the overall performance of the car/engine is not as great to be concerned about the good/bad stability and handling, which is abotu the average...
