Default Mileage question

since buying my 2006 Spectra LX, I have not obtained the mileage that was advertised. The mileage chart on the sales paper in the window of the car and also in the brochure was 46mpg on the highway, I have not even obtained the mileage for city driving. And I don't live in a city. Has anyone else had this problem with the 2006 spectra or other car? I always use my cruise control, I only have cold starts( I don't let it sit and idle).

46MPG? what engine have you got? The US Spectras are rated for around 32MPG and my 2006 Spec5 gets about 29 in real world driving.

Default Mileage

On the price sticker on the window there is the mileage estimator sticker and the mileage was given 46mpg on the highway and 34 in the city. It states the same thing in the brochure that I picked up at the auto dealer. I went to the Canadian web site for fuel consumption for vehicles and it lists the same. No special engine, but these were the figures given to me. That is why I purchased the vehicle.

Are you comparing an imperial gallon to a gallon in the states. That could be the difference.

That makes sense.

46 Imperial MPG is = 33 US MPG
34 Imperial MPG = 28 US MPG

My 06 Spectra (1.6 Gasolene) has covered 25 K miles and the average on the highway is about 34.5 MPG with air con on and 28 MPG in urban cycles with Air Con on. My average speed on the highway is about 80 MPH. You should be able to get these figures for normal driving (without jack rabbit starts or fast driving !!) I am definately happy with what I'm getting and even my dealer says the figures are good and just above average.

43MPG (US Gallons) is just too much to expect out of this car !!
