We have not checked the fuses because it is only the right taillight. Any suggestions?

I know this is a REALLY old thread, but does anyone have any idea on how to change the tail light bulb?

Im a pretty car-savy guy, and i literally sat there for for a good twenty minutes trying to figure out how exactly to change the tailight bulb on my girlfriends 03 Rio.

I know there a little opening door when you open the trunk, but the wires that run to where the bulb go are attached to this rubber thing that will not come out. Ive tried twisting it, thininking that maybe it has to go in a certain way..but it wont budge.

If anyone can please help me out with this it would be greatly apprecieated.

Thanks

EDIT: I just realized that my post is off topic, and should be in the Rio forum..but please if anyone can help me out here it'd be great. The last thing i need is to get a ticket for having a broken tail light.
