Default Drivers electric window won't go up (sticks half way)

Hi all,
Newbie here - Just bought a used 2010 Ceed EcoDynamics, only had it a few days and the drivers window won't go up - get's to about half way up then the motor gives up the ghost - seems stuck in the window seals?

Bit gutted TBH as this presents a massive inconvenience and potential risk of being nicked. Have tried lubing the seals with WD40 - they seemed pretty dry but wondered if that's the main problem?

Are the motors worn out?

Passenger side motor also sounds strained when going up too but the car has only done 15k (ex-fleet). Very happy with the 48 MPG in town/traffic/rush hour driving and the overall driving experience but very surprised to have what I consider a serious problem at this early stage...please help if you can and thanks in advance.

Next time you try to lift the window, record it on your phone and then take the car back to the dealers, more than sufficient warranty is left on the car, and if you have the video evidence of its failings, then they will look into it for you!

Use the warranty EM,its much easier than guessing!!

Hey Morton, had that same problem with my car two years ago. Car was a few months old when window issue occurred... Been opening and closing it frequently, and result was that window started pushing rubber seal up, which at some point became obstruction for window to close up...

Took rubber out of door frame, cut it off at the point where it disappears into the door so I could close up the window until new rubber seal was installed by garage...

When new rubber seal was installed, I used some silicon in a spray can to grease it up and no problem since...
